Dorothy’s Advocate for the Elderly Talk Show
Dorothy’s Advocate for the Elderly is the right place to share experiences and learn about tips and resources to assist the elderly within your family and the wider community. Helping seniors doesn’t have to be hard; all you need to do is just show up and say, “I’m here if you need me.”
Our elderly loved ones go through many emotional rollercoasters, such as experiencing financial instability after retiring, family separations, deaths of loved ones, family members moving away, dependence on others for mobility and needing assistance for basic task completion. Their struggles may look like a part of life and brushed aside as something everyone goes through, but they still need someone to talk to for emotional support. Here at Dorothy’s Advocate, we host a talk show focused on the needs of older and disabled people on various topics, such as spiritual guidance, educational awareness, cooking, and healthcare.
Our goal is to help the elderly feel like they’re part of a community and their struggles are recognized. We’re here to listen to their daily problems, cater to their needs, and address their issues without considering them a burden. We also provide facilities such as wheelchairs and healthcare services.
Alongside helping, we also educate families and the community on assisting their loved ones the right way. We use biblical principles and Jesus’s teaching as our foundational education. We believe that all families need to understand this: the seniors in your home carry a legacy, a life filled with cultures and traditions integral to your family history and their personal identity. Therefore, you need to respect them, care for them, and be there when they need you. Instead of being filled with uncertainty, provide a sense of purpose to your elders so they look forward to the days ahead of them.
